Vincent Matlo brings over 20 years of experience supporting individual adults, children and families. Vincent holds a Masters of Education from the University of British Columbia and a Post Masters Certificate in Clinical Counselling.   He builds a strong relationship with his client, in a collaborative and transparent role to achieve their goals.  He has an interest in the role of attachment as a means to foster deeper and more empathic relationships with his child clients, which speaks to the intuition of parents.  Vincent’s “smarter, not harder” approach is delivered with refreshing clarity, when adults are faced with life decisions, career choices, or when families are looking for strategies to improve relationships, foster self-fulfillment, and achieve peace of mind.  Vince brings a wealth of knowledge in his practical and transparent delivery to the client, their insurer, or, in the case of children,  the student's educators.

With his adult services, Vincent is appreciated for his respectful delivery of practical advice and education.  He also works with couples, in a positive build of best relationship practices.  He supports people with work stress, personal mental health, and problem solving of all types.

Regarding his children's services, Vincent has supported children in residential treatment and school-based settings, and has worked with children with autism spectrum disorders and other complex developmental and behavioural presentations.  This includes anger management, reduction in symptoms of anxiety and depression, and parent coaching with understanding.  Vincent has provided guidance specifically in the challenges of school life and how this can impact family and other relationships.

He welcomes interdisciplinary planning and reaches out in the community to implement “smarter” strategies for success. Smarter means appropriate to the individual, in essence a short cut designed for you to be successful. When needed, Vincent can further provide mediation in adult and child venues, for couples, workplaces, and  in a school or higher education setting.   He also provides treatment to couples struggling with parenting issues.

While comfortable in many treatment modalities, much of his approach is anchored to traditional, main stream Cognitive Behavioral approaches for adults and children 13 years and older.
