Dr. Gabrielle Poon holds a Ph.D. (clinical psychology) from Palo Alto University.  She has returned to B.C., where she was born and raised.  She completed her predoctoral and post-doctoral residency training in Anchorage, Alaska, and has worked in treatment settings in B.C., California, and Washington.  Dr. Poon is a licensed psychologist in Alaska and Washington States, and is currently an applicant in the process of transferring to be a Registered Psychologist in the province of British Columbia. She is currently under the supervision of a registered psychologist, Dr. Heather McEachern, and can provide services within the practice of the registrant. She is now accepting new clients.

Dr. Poon emphasizes transparency and collaboration in her clinical work.  She works primarily with adults and adolescents (age 12 to seniors/elders). She provides a range of assessment and treatment services, from a Cognitive Behavioral model (including DBT) for:

  • Anxiety (e.g., stressful life changes, workplace burn out, social anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, OCD, etc.)

  • Depression (e.g., sadness, irritability, low energy)

  • Sleep disturbance (e.g., delayed and interrupted, fatigue, etc.)

  • Substance abuse and dependency.

  • For adolescents, school related issues, social challenges, individual issues, family support.

Dr. Poon approaches from a diversity perspective, as a culturally-responsive practitioner with a person-centered lens.  She works with her client to co-develop a plan to achieve their goals.  She adapts treatment to fit the unique needs of each individual.
