Lucy is actively accepting new clients and has excellent availability.
Lucy Snider has been working in the field of mental health since 2009 treating adults, couples and at-risk teenagers. Originally from the UK, she spent 10 years working in London for the British National Health Service (NHS) and as a private clinician. She received her Master’s Degree in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy from the renowned Tavistock Relationships training centre in London and her Undergraduate Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. She also holds a Foundation Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy and an Advanced Diploma in Couples Therapy.
Having recently moved to Canada, Lucy is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in BC. Clients have the dual advantage of seeing her, an experienced counsellor, plus having background consult and sign off on receipts by a registered psychologist (some insurance plans who only approve psychologists may accept this arrangement with prior approval) if required. As a new member of our team, urgent referrals are seen within the week.
For Individual Counselling Lucy is well versed in CBT treatments (including but not limited to: DBT, mindfulness, relaxation and graduated exposure) for symptoms of anxiety, depression, workplace stress, low self-esteem, family issues, grief, sleep disorders and trauma. She accepts clients from Crime Victims Assistance, ICBC and Veterans. She is pleased to provide support around career changes and other life transitions. For her specialized work with teenagers, she establishes good rapport with the youth, while parents also feel heard in the care planning. Lucy is a member of the adult and child KPG teams.
Her Couples Counselling is well received in this community, with advanced training treatments that progress relationships in crisis or improve relationships that could benefit from a “check-up.” Lucy has significant training and experience in working with relationship and sexual difficulties, including with survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence. She also has extensive experience in the field of sexual health, education and helping people explore their sexual and gender identity. She can provide treatment for both male and female sexual dysfunction where no organic cause can be found. For more information, Lucy has an expanded website at www.bcsexualwellness.com.
Lucy prides herself in empowering her clients to realize their goals. She is approachable and thoughtful in co-authoring a specific care plan with you whilst providing a safe, non-judgemental space for you to freely explore your thoughts and feelings. She is skilled in using an integrative approach to facilitate the most effective therapy for each client.
Lucy is pleased to be able to offer Zoom video counselling for people who may have difficulty leaving their home due to mobility issues, concerns with anxiety, or anyone living in a remote area who cannot make it to an in-person session in Kelowna, BC. Please contact the office for further details.
There are special insurance considerations when choosing Ms. Lucy Snider as your clinician. As Ms. Lucy Snider is a Registered Clinical Counsellor, some extended health care insurance companies may not offer reimbursement for treatment sessions with her. If you are planning on seeking reimbursement for sessions with Ms. Snider, please ensure that you contact your insurance company to confirm if they will reimburse sessions for a Registered Clinical Counsellor.
